STAINS IN MUZZLE/MOUTH AREA
Some Westies develop stains in these areas. The mouth will exhibit the most noticeable alteration in color as the color from food (usually kibble) or excessive saliva from a food allergy will make its way onto the fur, these substances called porphyrins stain the fur 😟😟😟
Certain types of food make your dog produce more saliva or create allergies that increase the production of porphyrins ⚠️⚠️⚠️
This causes the fur to turn red, pink, brown or orange. It usually indicates an underlying problem such as: allergic skin disease/skin allergies (very common).
If your dog has brown stains around the muzzle/mouth area, I suggest to either change the food, to clean the area with a damp cloth after each meal and to apply Beard Stain Remover Spray DAILY for a clean, odor-free mouth. In doing this, your Westie will have a beautiful and white muzzle area.
